About Us

We exclusively grow and distribute native and hybrid Louisiana Irises. We grow named iris varieties registered with the American Iris Society. We market either by bloom color or by registered variety. We also grow irises by color, mixing registered and non-registered irises by the color of the bloom. Plants are shipped in the continental U.S. only. We ship bare-rooted iris rhizomes with about 2 to 6 inches of foliage. All plants are naturally grown and are not tissue culture seedlings.

  • Legacy & Love for the Louisiana Iris

Our family is proud to carry on the legacy of our Founder, Mr. Jim Leonard. He paid homage to the rich history of the Louisiana Iris by providing his valued customers with some of the oldest varieties around, while keeping a keen eye for the next notable introduction. For over 30 years, Jim spread his love and passion for Louisiana Irises to the world. Jim left us in 2024, after seeing the earliest of the season's Iris blooms. Louisiana Iris Farms continues to be rooted in Lafayette, Louisiana - sharing our love for the Louisiana Iris with gardners across the USA.

    Keep Growing!

  • There is a perfect spot in every yard and garden for Louisiana irises. You are rewarded year after year with spectacular color blooms that brighten your home and garden.

  • With at least a half-day of sun, dampness during the Spring bloom season, and a heavy summer mulch, you can have iris blooms in gardens all over the U.S.

  • In our southern part of the country, the Louisiana iris lives relatively disease and insect free. Still, threats remain in other regions. It's prudent to know the potential risks.
